Election Petition: Supreme Court not a forum for “rehearsed theatricals” – Frank Davies to Mahama

Frank Davies, one of the legal team members of President Akufo-Addo, 2nd Respondent in the Election Petition has lashed out at the conduct of lawyers for the petitioner John Mahama.

The Apex Court on Tuesday, January 26 ordered Mr Mahama to file his witness statement by close of day tomorrow, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 after failing to do so as earlier instructed. Sitting continues on Thursday, January 28.

Reacting to the development, Lawyer Frank Davies, who appeared surprised at the turn of events believes the Apex Court has been lenient to Mr Mahama.

“As it is now the court has been gracious and very lenient to the petitioner because he has been given the opportunity to right the wrongs”, Frank Davies said as he called out the petitioner’s legal team at a media briefing after proceedings.

“We are all legal practitioners, the Supreme Court is a very busy place. The Supreme Court is not the forum for organized, rehearsed and choreographed theatricals and drama. It is a place for real hard and serious legal work. It is not for flying of literature and dull English devoid of any legal merit. I want to advise my colleagues from the other side that if it hasn’t been broken, don’t attempt to fix it. We are ready for them on Thursday”, he stated.
